NORTHERN CAPE SUMMER CAMPAIGN

EXPERIENCE THE NORTHERN CAPE SUMMER DIFFERENTLY

The outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent lock down period lead to the disruption of the tourism industry within South Africa affecting domestic travel specifically.

South African Tourism has conceptualised a specific marketing campaign, “Summer Differently” to unlock and re-ignite domestic tourism. The Northern Cape Tourism Authority has developed a provincial summer campaign to complement the national campaign which will be showcasing the Northern Cape’s iconic must do summer experiences.

The campaign slogan Summer differently… take the road less travelled and explore the myriad of small dorpies, towns and villages of the Northern Cape embodies our campaign objective.

We further have a parallel campaign targeting provincial tourists to explore and know their neighbourhood…. Explore and know your Province. This campaign will encourage our local provincial travellers to experience and explore the accessible experiences on their doorsteps as well as exploring the smaller towns, villages and townships of the province.

The MEC for the Department of Economic Development and Tourism, honorable Abraham Vosloo leads the campaign to welcome the visitors to the Northern Cape.

“Summer holidays is that time of the year when families and friends come together and spend more time to reconnect with each and rediscover the unique tourism experiences of the Northern Cape.

“ Now it is time to go out and discover our beautiful province and join a nationwide journey to celebrate our rich, diverse landscape, our melting pot of culture and adventure experiences that awaits everybody in the Northern Cape”, mentioned MEC Vosloo.

“Either traveling from Johannesburg to Cape Town, travelers can take their time and reach their destination taking the road less travelled via N12, N14, N1, N7, N18 and R63 roads. Alternatively, we invite you to explore any one or a combination of our seven routes criss-crossing the entire province offering unique family adventures, vast landscapes and engaging cultural experiences.

Take advantage of our many amazing Summer special offers visit our website, www.experiencenortherncape.com.

Visitors are reminded that the Northern Cape is a safe travel destination, please support and adhere  to the Covid-19 health protocols of washing hands regularly, wearing cloth masks and keep social distance at all time”, concludes MEC Vosloo.

During the Summer period visitors and residents are further encouraged to do the right thing and keep our towns and communities clean, business owners also to clean their business surrounds. Our taxi ranks play a very important role in our society, we also encourage them to assist in keeping our cities clean and remind their commuters not to litter, encourage our people to use the available toilets and not urinate near the taxi ranks.

Do not drink and drive and remember to take regular stops to remain alert during long distance travel.

We support the 16 Days of Activism of Violence Against Women and Children and encourage our tourism partners and ambassadors to unite and work together to end the abuse of women and children.

Let us also not forget the less fortunate and the many unemployed.

Ends.
