The Northern Cape Provincial Government, through the Premier's Bursary Programme, is inviting RSA citizens, unemployed youth (18-35) from the Province, to apply for a bursary for full-time studies for undergraduate / first degree studies at any accredited South African Higher Education Institution.

Financially needy applicants performing academically well will be prioritized.

Applications are welcomed and are open for Grade 12 learners current, completed and students who are already enrolled at a Higher Education Institution.

Recruitment & Selection

The following criteria shall be applied in the selection process:

  1. Duly completed application as per OTP checklist
  2. South African citizen residing in the Northern Cape province
  3. Applied for studies and or already studying at registered HEI's.
  4. Fields of study aligned to disciplines identified as scarce and critical within the province
  5. Demographic spread (Race, Gender, Age & Persons with Disabilities)
  6. Geographic area
  7. Academic achievement of applicants
  8. Enrolled students should submit most recent statement of results
  9. Proof of household Income / financial means

Successful students are expected to enter into a contractual agreement with the Northern Cape Provincial Government.The agreement contains all general provisions related to the bursary.

The Northern Cape Provincial Government reserves the right to determine the total number of bursary allocations for the academic year based on the total budget available.
