In commemorating World Disability Day, the University of the Free State (UFS) Business School's in partnership with the Department of Economic Development and Tourism held a New Venture Creation programme for 25 people living with disabilities. The programme coincided with International Disability Awareness Month, and The International Day of Persons with Disabilities, as observed on 3 December at Horseshoe in Kimberley. Mr Christians, an Executive Manager from IEDS programme presented business opportunities offered by the department including the EGDF fund that is run by the department annually. He also informed the learners about our sister partners, like SEFA, SEDA, IDC and the others about their business opportunity, having the same goal of improving the provincial economic growth and creating employment. The Learners were trained by the University on how to create a bankable business plan, where there was also a winning competition for the best business plan. “You must take the opportunity with both hands and ensure that you have an impressive business plan to satisfy investors” as Mr Christians encouraged the participants. |
