Fifteen (15) SMME’s of which 14 is women (5Y) and 1 male adult successfully concluded a five-day training project management programme organised by the Department of Economic Development and Tourism training held in Kimberley at KIDJA from the 26-30 September 2022. The focus was on developing the skill of Women owned businesses, as there was a challenge on finishing projects on time and the mis-costing factor during tendering process. Opportunities in the Construction Sector communicated to SMME, focusing on empowering women. The program was intended for SMME who want to develop their project management capabilities that will give them a better understanding of project design and implementation after taking the course. Participants in the course have learned about the basic principles of project management. They will learn how to draft the project charter, identify the project's goals, and evaluate risks. They were given a primer in budgeting concepts. Participants have also learned about the basics of project management and attend courses on creating a solid business plan and the business model. The program is intended for SMMEs who want to develop their project management capabilities. They will have a better understanding of project design and implementation after taking the course. Both SMMEs with project implementation expertise and young people who have never planned their own projects but would like to start were invited to the course. The project design and implementation tools and knowledge will be provided through the course. |
