Ladies and Gentlemen

On behalf of Premier Hazel Jenkins (who is abroad on official government business) and the Executive Council of the Northern Cape Provincial Government, it gives me great pleasure indeed to offer our collective support to this gathering of the Public Protector’s National Stakeholder Consultative Forum.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I have been reliably informed that, in the main, this Consultative Forum forms a significant aspect of the activities of the Office of the Public Protector which expressly intends leveraging stakeholder relations for enhanced service delivery to all South Africans within the parameters of the Public Protectors constitutional mandate.

In according our steadfast support and encouragement to the work of the Public Protector, both as the Provincial Government and the community of the Northern Cape, we are hopeful that all our citizens will develop an enhanced understanding of the constitutional and statutory mandates of this important institution that supports our constitutional democracy.

In accordance with the programme schedule, Ladies and Gentlemen, we certainly have time constraints and being mindful of this, I am sure that our interaction and deliberations will benefit all of us within the context of the NPA’s Vision of “Justice in our society, so that people live in freedom and security” and its Mission, which seeks to “...ensure justice for the victims of crime by prosecuting without fear, favour and prejudice and by working with our partners and the public to solve and prevent crime”.

I thank you
