A partnership between the Department of Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements, and Traditional Affairs (COGHSTA) and the Housing Developing Agency (HDA) will see two local municipalities namely Sol Plaatje Municipality in Kimberley and //Khara Hais Municipality in Upington benefit to ensure that the delivery of houses is accelerated in the province. The HDA has assisted the two municipalities to acquire suitable land for human settlement development in the province.

The Housing Development Agency work in the province was primarily in informal settlement and that lead to them being appointed as the implementing agent to develop the Snake Park informal settlement. The departments partnership with the HDA intents to accelerate the delivery of houses in the province. The Northern is experiencing an increase in the number of informal settlements and this partnership will ensure that the necessary support is given to municipalities to upgrade and coordinate services in that areas. The department plans to take the Housing Development Agencies services on a road show in the province to familiarize all municipalities with their services.
