Members of the media are advised that President Jacob Zuma will officially open Dr Harry Surtie Hospital in Upington. The President will be accompanied by Premier of the Northern Cape, Sylvia Lucas and MEC of Health Mr Mac Jack.
The new Dr Harry Surtie Hospital groups inpatients according to clinical needs, allowing for more focused specialist care that meets the needs of individual patients. The number of beds has increased from 180 in the old Gordonia Hospital to 327. Staff will increase from 350 to more than 1000 in the new Dr Harry Surtie Hospital.
