7th annual Northern Cape Writers Festival PDF Print E-mail

Northern Cape authors and poets will once again converge in different platforms to share their writing skills and expertise during the 7th Northern Cape Writers Festival. The 2016 festival will be held in all five districts of the province from Friday, 19 February 2016. It will be celebrated under a theme “Celebrating Democracy” with the first event to be held at Hartswater in Phokwane Municipal area on Friday and Saturday 19 and 20 February 2016.

Considering the rich political history of the International Women’s Day, and the special occasion and meaning of this gathering, I feel quite humbled to address you here today.

The faces in this room this morning are a reminder of our history that brings forth memories and personal experiences. It tells me that we have travelled a long way and that we cannot give up now in this struggle for the improvement of women's lives.

"Provincial Fiscal Framework

Honourable Speaker, the province is funded through own revenue, equitable share allocations and conditional grants. Total receipts for the 2018/19 budget year is projected at R17.2 billion, which is 5 per cent increase compared to 2017/18. Over the MTEF the provincial receipts total to R54.3 billion of which R40.2 billion present equitable share, R12.9 billion Conditional Grants and R1.1 billion in own revenue.

The MEC for Transport, Safety and Liaison, Honourable Mac Jack will be launching the Northern Cape Provincial Crime Prevention Strategy on the 12th September 2013 in Batlharos, John Taolo Gaetsewe region.
