Department geared-up to launch the Provincial Crime Prevention Strategy.

The MEC for Transport, Safety and Liaison, Honourable Mac Jack will be launching the Northern Cape Provincial Crime Prevention Strategy on the 12th September 2013 in Batlharos, John Taolo Gaetsewe region.


Today is a sad day, a black Friday, as we woke up to the tragic news of the passing of the Speaker of the ZF Mgcawu District Municipality, Ms Nokhaya Mjila. As a Province we have been silenced by the death of a leader and activist that always committed herself to the vision of building a prosperous society. She served Government and the ANC in various capacities and her diligence, sacrifice, hard work and respect for others never went unnoticed.

Last year during the Substance Abuse Treatment Symposium in Kimberley, we discussed the fact that we are in dire need of a treatment facility in order to help our people who often have to struggle on their own simply because we do not have facilities to provide that help. We have worked tirelessly to ensure that we establish a centre in the Northern Cape to cater for our people.


The Premier of the Northern Cape, Ms. Sylvia Lucas, today expressed concern on the release of the 2014-15 Provincial Financial Management Act (PFMA) audit outcomes because it shows a regression from the previous results. All is however not lost because although the result was not as expected there are some positives that can be taken away from the 2014-15 audit outcomes.

Recent spate of attack on Foreign nationals

Cabinet condemns in the strongest terms the recent acts of violence against foreign nationals. At this point, Cabinet would like to extend its heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and a speedy recovery to those who are injured.
