Every year, October is commemorated as Transport Month, a key platform to raise awareness about the crucial role that transport plays in driving economic growth, connecting communities, and improving quality of life.
Transport Month 2025 encourages collaboration among government, industry stakeholders, and citizens to promote safer, more efficient, and sustainable transport systems. It also provides an opportunity to reflect on progress made in road safety, public transport services, and innovation within the transport sector.
In the Northern Cape Province, the campaign underscores the transport sector’s contribution to economic development and job creation, while also calling attention to road safety and the need for responsible road user behaviour. It reminds us that transport is not only about mobility – it is about enabling access to opportunities, empowering communities, and supporting inclusive development.
During her address, MEC Koloi highlighted the need for the mini bus taxi industry to work with government and find solutions to the current challenges the sector.
