THE NORTHERN Cape Department of Health has confirmed its 17th positive Covid-19 case after a farmer in the ZF Mgcawu District tested positive for the coronavirus.
According to information, the farmer was tested at a private facility after he experienced mild symptoms of Covid-19. He received his results on Sunday after the MEC released the figures for the Province.

Northern Cape Department of Health spokesperson Lebogang Majaha said on Tuesday that the farmer is currently self-isolating on his farm.
“The latest case was identified in the Dawid Kruiper municipal area. Our District Outreach Response Team in the ZF Mgcawu District has identified the immediate contacts of the positive case and has advised them to self-isolate,” said Majaha.

He urged Northern Cape residents to continue to adhere to the lockdown regulations implemented by the government.

“People are advised to continue to practise good hygiene by washing their hands for 20 seconds with soap and water or to use a hand sanitiser in the absence of water; keep a social distance of one metre when out in public; and to also wear a mask.

“As a department we have made preparations for people who test positive and are unable to self-isolate. We have quarantine facilities across the Province, where people who test positive or are under investigation can be hosted.

“We are also continuing with mass screenings in the various districts in an attempt to flatten the curve of the coronavirus. We advise everyone to avail themselves for screening,” Majaha said.
