MEC VASS HAND OVER TITLE DEEDS IN POFADDER, KHAI-MA LOCAL MUNICIPALITY.

As part of the build-up activities of the National Women’s Day to be hosted in the Northern Cape, MEC Bentley Vass, responsible for COGHSTA and Transport, Safety & Liaison in the Northern Cape, handed over title deeds to female homeowners as part of women’s month celebrations on Thursday 08 August 2024, in Pofadder, Khai-Ma Local Municipality in the Namakwa District. The MEC was accompanied by the Mayor of Khai-Ma Municipality, Councillor Estelle Cloete, and the District Director of the Department of COGHSTA in the Namakwa District, Mr Roger Swartz. A title deed is a legal document that confirms or proves that one is the owner of a property after having been transferred into one's name. It is the most important document as far as property ownership is concerned. The overjoyed beneficiaries thanked MEC Vass for delivering the title deeds to them and vowed to protect these as they prove that they are the rightful owners of the properties and no one can disown them. The Department of COGHSTA has embarked on ‘’Title Deeds Fridays’’ launched by Minister of the Department of Human Settlements, Mmamoloko Kubayi, in October 2023, to rapidly increase the number of title deeds that are handed over to owners of houses built by the government across the Northern Cape.
