On 5 December 2024, the Northern Cape Networking event brought together key mining, manufacturing, and energy stakeholders to explore innovative linkages and synergies. This ground-breaking collaboration aims to drive industrialisation in the region, fostering economic growth and creating employment opportunities.

The PTSA Networking Session, held in partnership with ASSMANG and the Northern Cape Department of Economic Development and Tourism, represented the spirit of collaboration that defined the event. As industry leaders, innovators, and stakeholders gathered together, the session facilitated meaningful connections, fostering an environment conducive to growth and development. The collective goal was clear: to unlock new economic development and transformation opportunities, propelling the Northern Cape towards a brighter, more prosperous future.

The Northern Cape Networking Event focused on four primary objectives. Firstly, the event aimed to strengthen regional linkages by developing a regional Mining, Manufacturing, and Energy (MME) cluster. This cluster will enhance collaboration among key role players, facilitating the sharing of expertise, resources, and risk. Secondly, the event sought to upskill and reskill individuals in the mining sector, introducing them to new technologies and processes. This initiative will improve the skills pool in engineering, advanced manufacturing, machining, and tool making and provide employment opportunities for the youth entering the market.

Thirdly, the event aimed to enhance the capabilities of local firms supplying to the mining, agriculture, and renewable energy sectors. By working closely with these firms, the initiative will improve their abilities, adopt new technologies, and boost manufacturing activity and employment. The event laid the groundwork for launching the next PtSA Centre of Excellence in South Africa, located in the Northern Cape. This Centre of Excellence will provide a hub for innovation, research, and development, driving industrialisation and economic growth in the region.
