Bio

Christopher Ovies is a Community Outreach Coordinator with a background in environmental management and sustainable development. He holds a Bachelor of Theology (2017), a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy (2012) from St. John Vianney, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Environmental Management (2022) from the University of Stellenbosch. Christopher supports coastal communities by assessing the economic value of kelp, promoting responsible harvesting practices, and integrating kelp into local economies while ensuring environmental protection. He is committed to climate resilience, leading initiatives that align with community-based strategies and fostering collaboration with stakeholders. Additionally, he focuses on skills development for women and youth in disadvantaged communities to build resilience against environmental challenges.
