Bio

Mr Madiya is currently the Deputy Director-General: Maritime Transport Branch in the Department of Transport.  As the Acting DG of Transport for the period of November 2021 to June 2022.

He worked at Transnet National Ports Authorities and Ports Operations. He also has experience in Liquid Bulk business and Policy development, Port Infrastructure and its Commerce Stakeholder Management and Project Development and Management.

Mr Madiya served as the South African Maritime Safety Authority Board Member since 2015 to 2023 and the member of Board Sub Committee - Maritime Industry Development, served as a member of the Board of the Ports Regulator of South Africa for the period 2015 to 2023. He is the Head of Operation Phakisa Ocean Economy - Maritime Transport and Manufacturing and Chair of National Ports Consultative Committee and Ports Consultative Committee

Subsistence fishers rely on marine resources as a basic source of food.
