Profile of MEC Nomandla Bloem
MEC Sylvia Nomandla Bloem was born in Kimberley on the 29th of August during the height of apartheid.
She started schooling at Montshiwa Lower Primary (in Kimberley), and later went to Boitshoko Higher Primary (in Kimberley). She completed her matric at Kgomotso High school in 1984.
After high school she studied further at various educational institutions where she has acquired qualifications, mostly in governance and management studies and received awards for an outstanding performance in her studies.
A former teacher and a devoted Christian, MEC Bloem, believes that education is the key to success.
She is currently studying towards a Degree in Municipal Management and Leadership with the University of South Africa.
As an activist, MEC Bloem served in different positions in the Mass Democratic Formation, Alliance Structures and the African National Congress.
A former Councillor who has served our communities with distinction for many years, is a member of the Regional Executive Committee of the ANC in John Taolo Gaetsewe District.
A former President of the Women Missionary Society at the Conference Level- AME Church
MEMBER OF THE PROVINCIAL LEGISLATURE
In May 2019, Ms Bloem was sworn in as the new Member of the Northern Cape Provincial Legislature, deployed by the ANC. She was then appointed as the Member of the Executive Council (MEC) responsible for Agriculture, Land Reform, Rural Development, Environment and Nature Conservation.
