Fraud Awareness Seminar

The Northern Cape Provincial Government in partnership with the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners South Africa (ACFE) and PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) will be hosting a one day Fraud Awareness seminar.

Air Force 1 Sage Low

This seminar forms part of the International Fraud Awareness Week that will run from the 16 November to the 22 November 2014 and is aimed at raising awareness about the increase in fraud that is depriving communities at large from benefitting due to the fact that resources that are aimed at service delivery are redirected. Findings based on a study by ACFE indicates that fraud costs companies worldwide an estimate 5% of their annual revenues, if applied to the 2013 estimated Gross World Product this translates to a potential projected global fraud loss of nearly $3, 7 trillion.

The Northern Cape seminar will have as discussion points the fact that an anti-fraud culture should be instilled and creating awareness about unethical behavior and what actions are to be taken in the event of this breach in ethics. The Provincial Commissioner of The Public Services Commission will provide a provincial perspective on fraud, corruption and malpractice in the public service. This seminar is definitely a step in the right direction towards the promotion of the highest standards of governance.

The seminar will be led by Members of the Provincial Executive Committee of the Northern Cape and Members of the Provincial Legislature. In attendance will also be senior stakeholders from the partnering companies as well as Mayors, Municipal Managers, Heads of Provincial Departments, Chief Financial Officers and sector leaders.
