The Premier of the Northern Cape, Ms Hazel Jenkins, invites members of the media to a media briefing on Provincial engagements with relevant Northern Cape stakeholders and the Minister for Public Enterprises, Mr. Malusi Gigaba. The Minister of Public Enterprises, Mr Malusi Gigaba will tomorrow lead a team of Chairpersons and CEOs of State -Owned Companies (SOCs) to meet with the Northern Cape Provincial Government lead by Ms Jenkins to outline the developmental plans of SOCs in the Northern Cape.

The meeting is part of the Minister Gigaba’s Provincial Engagements to ensure that the Economic Developmental Plans of the Provinces are aligned with the strategic plans of SOC operations. SOCs play a key role as instruments of economic development, job creation and skills development in the country and a coordinated approach with Provincial Government to ensure alignment between strategic goals and operations of SOC.

In attendance will also be Members of the Provincial Cabinet and the Minister GIgaba will be accompanied by the CEOs of Alexkor, Broadband Infraco, Transnet and Eskom.

During the media briefing the Ms Jenkins and Minister Gigaba will outline their engagement and decisions on a way forward in aligning the Provincial Government Strategic Plans with the Developmental Agenda of the SOC operations in the province.

The media briefing is scheduled to take place on Friday, 14 February 2011, at 12h00 at the Office of the Premier, Cabinet Boardroom on the 5th floor, Spoornet Building.
