The Annual Premier’s Soccer and Netball Easter Tournament, hosted by Premier Dr. Zamani Saul, brought excitement and unity to Petrusville over the Easter weekend. The event featured 18 soccer teams and 6 netball teams competing fiercely for top honours, with prize money of R20 000 for soccer and R10 000 for netball. Each participating team also received an appearance fee of R5 000, boosting community participation. The tournament was further enriched by appearances from renowned soccer legends Fabian McCarthy, Jermaine Christian, Edelbert Dinah and Norman Smith including Petrusvilles's very own Ivan Shakes Ndaba. In the netball category, Pearlies United from Phillipstown emerged victorious, while Junior Chiefs from Petrusville claimed the top soccer prize. Beyond competition, the tournament highlighted the powerful role of sport in uniting communities, promoting healthy lifestyles, and encouraging teamwork. It provided a valuable platform for both youth and adults to showcase their talents and build community pride.
