The MEC of Health would like to thank the Office of the Executive Mayors of the abovementioned District Municipalities for their support and assistance in ensuring the success of the engagements.
The aim of the engagements was to create a platform for the MEC, together with his Executive team, to inform local government leaders of the current status, challenges, future plans and new policy directives of the Northern Cape Department of Health.
The following presentations were done which afterwards were thoroughly discussed through questions and answers:
Primary Healthcare Re-engineering
National Health Insurance
Re-establishment of Governance structures(hospital boards, clinic committees),
Re-classification of Hospitals(effecting each district)
Department Financial status and
Infrastructure projects(within each district)
It is the first time according to the target audience that such information sharing engagements have been initiated by a Member of the Executive Council and was much appreciated by all present. It is up to the local government leaders to take the information further to our communities and empower and inform our citizens on these health sector issues.
This is but one channel used by the Northern Cape department of Health to make the Batho Pele principles of Openness and Transparency and Information a reality.
Working together, we can do more!
