The Premier, Dr Zamani Saul, met with the MEC responsible for Education in the Northern Cape, Mr Zolile Monakali together with the Executive Managers to get an appraisal from the Department on the Online Learner Admission for 2021 as well as on the progress in as far as support for the matric class of 2020 is concerned.
We have as the Provincial Government committed to ensuring that we minimize long queues at schools, lessening the burden on parents across the Province by developing an online registration platform. The Online registration launched by the Northern Cape Provincial Government has been a huge success with 56 000 successful applications and 36 000 parents registering for schools,during its first trial.
The COVID-19 pandemic disturbed learning and teaching in many of our schools across the province, and has placed great pressure on the Provincial Government to support learners. Spring classes will therefore start across all districts this coming weekend and will benefit many of our learners with regards to intervention programmes.
National Senior Certificate Examinations will start on the 05 November 2020 with
12 049 full time learners being registered this year in the Province.
