In light of the persistent veld fires which continue to destroy some parts of the Province, especially in the Frances Baard District, the Premier Dr Zamani Saul and MEC Mase Manopole (for Agriculture, Environmental Affairs, Land Reform and Rural Development), will be flying over affected areas today to assess the scale of damage.
The ravaging veld fires have wreaked havoc in areas such as Jan Kempdorp and Warrenton with the possibility of spreading to other parts of the Province. In the process, farmers have lost properties, livestock and grazing land.
The Provincial Disaster Management Centre (PDMC) has so far, been working closely with the District Disaster Management Centre (DDMC) and organised agriculture to bring the fire under control.
