The Premier of the Northern Cape, Dr. Zamani Saul, will officially turn the sod for the new Petrusville Primary School in the Pixley Ka Seme District. Joining the Premier will be the MEC for Education, Mr. Zolile Monakali, Executive Mayor from the Pixley ka Seme District, senior officials from Provincial and District offices of the Department of Education as well as learners and educators from the Petrusville Primary School.
The Northern Cape Department of Education is in the process of replacing schools which are constructed with asbestos containing materials. These schools were constructed as a temporary solution and although well maintained by the communities; the structures are considered to be a health hazard to the learners and educators. Within the next five years, the Department plans to prioritise the replacement of these inappropriate structures, provision of reliable sanitation, water and electricity in order to ensure a conducive environment for quality public education in our schools.
This new school will be fully fitted with a modern Administration block ,21 Classrooms, Ablution facilities, a Media Centre,2 Science Labs ,Double ECD classroom, Nutrition Centre, School Hall and a Sports-field. It is envisaged that the new school will accommodate 950 learners.
With the construction of this new school, Government is confident that it will further contribute to the improvement of the overall learner performance in the Pixley Ka Seme District.
