The Premier of the Northern Cape, Dr Zamani Saul, has expressed shock and sadness at the untimely passing of the Minister in the Presidency, Mr Jackson Mthembu. The news of the passing of undoubtedly one of the most remarkable public servants was received with great sadness and loss.
Minister Mthembu’s commitment and diligence in service to our people will forever serve as a guide and inspiration for those who vowed to serve all our people.
Mr Mthembu made a remarkable contribution to the development of our democracy and he contributed selflessly to the community at large in his capacity as an activist and member of Government. His contribution to improving the lives of the people and his contribution to the fight against Covid-19 will be remembered and will form part of the rich legacy that he leaves behind.
As we mourn the death of a seasoned and grounded leader both at a political and administrative level, Premier Saul on behalf of the Provincial Administration and the people of the Northern Cape extends our most sincere condolences to his wife, family, friends and comrades in the African National Congress and members of Cabinet.
As the family grieves, may they be comforted by the knowledge that in doing so they are honouring the memory of an activist and leader who dedicated his life to the service of the people.
Our greatest tribute to the life of Minister Jackson Mthembu can be to stay true to the adherence to all non-medical Covid-19 regulations and working with Government as we embark on the rollout of the Covid-19 vaccine.
May the soul of Minister Mthembu rest in peace and rise in glory.
