The MEC responsible for Finance, Economic Development and Tourism Mr. Abraham Vosloo, together with the Deputy Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy Dr Nobuhle Nkabane officially launched the R4.4 Billion Roggeveld Wind Farm outside Sutherland.

The Roggeveld Wind Farm which is led by Red Rocket, is an operational 147 MW Wind power plant which will generate energy that will satisfy the energy needs of roughly 49 200 households per annum while avoiding the emission of about 502900 tons of CO2.

In his message of support, delivered on behalf of the Northern Cape Provincial Government, MEC Vosloo congratulated the consortium of investors for this project. We are confident that with government creating the enabling environment for investment and development, projects such as these wil create the necessary jobs and assist with skills development in the Province.

In our engagements with the local municipality they too expressed the view that this project has proven to be a success for this area through creating employment during the construction phase and related industries emerging.

We remain steadfast in our resolve to improve the lives of the people of the Northern Cape; through public-private partnerships we will attain our vision of a modern, growing and successful Province.
