As part of Child Protection Week 2025, the Social Work Unit at Robert Mangaliso Sobukwe Hospital proudly hosted an impactful Child Protection Training session on 04 June 2025 in collaboration with the Department of Social Development.
The session brought together healthcare professionals from various disciplines to strengthen the collective ability to protect vulnerable children. The training focused on:
Early detection of neglect, abuse, and trauma:
* Interdisciplinary collaboration between healthcare and social services.
* Understanding legal and ethical responsibilities under South Africa’s Children’s Act.
* Scenario-based learning and real-world case discussions.
Participants engaged in lively, practical discussions, exploring how their roles intersect with social work practices to form a united front against child maltreatment.
This training is part of Robert Mangaliso Sobukwe Hospital's broader commitment to child advocacy, professional development, and proactive intervention.
By investing in continuous education and collaborative partnerships, the hospital ensures that every child who enters their care is seen, heard, and protected.
Together, we are building a safer future for our children.
