The Premier of the Northern Cape, Dr. Zamani Saul, joined by the MEC for Transport, Safety and Liaison, Ms Limakatso Koloi, and the Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Koliswa Otola, recently released the 2024/2025 fourth quarter crime statistics.
During the briefing, Provincial Commissioner Otola commended the people of the Northern Cape for their restraint in allowing law enforcement and the justice system to perform their duties. “Your trust in the justice and security cluster enables us to effectively investigate, prosecute, and deliver justice,” she noted.
Dr. Zamani Saul acknowledged the efforts of the South African Police Service (SAPS) and called for intensified action in the fight against crime. He stressed the importance of stronger community-police relations as a cornerstone of safer communities and also praised the impact of successful multi-disciplinary operations such as Operation Shanela, Vala Umgodi, and cross-border crime-fighting initiatives.
The release of these statistics serves as a critical barometer for progress and challenges in the province’s safety strategy.
