WELCOMING REMARKS BY THE PREMIER OF THE NORTHERN CAPE MS HAZEL JENKINS AT THE OCCASSION OF THE WREATH LAYING CEREMIONY BY THE ROYAL BAFOKENG KINGDOM
Your Royal Highness
The Great Bafokeng Kingdom
It gives me great pleasure to welcome the Queen Mother Mmemogolo Semane Molotlegi, the King Leruo Molotlegi and Members of the great Royal Bafokeng Kingdom to our beautiful province in paying homage to the many Bafokeng families who lost their lives.
We have been immersed in the profound friendship of the Bafokeng Royal Kingdom towards the Northern Cape Provincial government. This visit will undoubtedly further strengthen and cement a long-lasting friendship.
In paying homage to the spirit of the endeavours of the Royal Bafokeng people, we must always bear in mind their endeavours in the collective contribution to the growth and economic development of Kimberley and its surrounding areas.
Your Royal Highness, it therefore gives me great pleasure as Premier of the Northern Cape to witness in person this symbolic wreath laying event.
This auspicious occasion is important for several reasons, the main one being that as a people, we are in a position to consciously and tangibly pay tribute to the heroic deeds of our great forefathers.
Our forebears have left us a lasting legacy and their hard-work over many generations is testimony to the current success and progress of the Royal Bafokeng Nation.
Your Excellency, on behalf of the Provincial Government and the people of the Northern Cape, I wish that the delegation of the Royal Bafokeng people who are present here this afternoon a sense of spiritual fulfilment and connection with the souls of their forefathers on this significant day.
