Modern, Growing, Successful Province

Northern Cape Provincial Social Sector Dialogue

The Northern Cape Province held it’s first provincial Social Sector Dialogue over two days on 05th and 06th February 2019 at Platfontein Lodge in Kimberley. The event was co-ordinated by The Office of the Premier in conjunction with the Department of Social Development, National Development Agency (NDA) and National Economic Development and Labour Council (NEDLAC).

These dialogues which were called for by President Ramaphosa in his 2018 SONA speech, will culminate in a National Summit with all nine provinces participating under the theme “Strengthening partnership with the social sector toward poverty alleviation.”

The Social Sector Dialogue was attended by over 300 delegates from all districts across the province with the aim to improve the interface between government and civil society and to address the challenges that Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and Community Based Organizations (CBOs) face.

Government is committed to operating within the developmental communication paradigm underpinned by fundamental values of democracy, openness and participation with the aim of building social cohesiveness and empowering citizens to participate in shaping policies.
The dialogues create platforms for Civil Society Organizations to access relevant information and for the state to support the Organizations which work tirelessly at restoring the moral fabric of society and add value to the development of our country.
