Modern, Growing, Successful Province

Ministerial Health Campaign

01 November 2010

The MEC for Health in province, Mr Mxolisi Sokatsha, would like to take this opportunity to inform all of the continuation of the Ministerial Health Campaign in the John Taolo Gaetsewe District from 01-04 November 2010. Numerous communities will be targeted to provide much needed health services.

This campaign aims to encourage positive action of taking responsibility for one’s health through action, through testing for HIV, TB screening, community interaction/dialogue, door-to-door visits and health walks. This campaign is in line with social and moral reconstruction of our communities whereby health services will be provided both on site and referrals to facilities for specialized services as well as giving communities the opportunity to raise their concerns and challenges with government leaders.

Furthermore, as part of the campaign sod-turnings for the construction of two new clinics in Deerham and Ga-Mopedi will also be done. The two clinics will be constructed at a cost of R6M each over a period of 15 months. This will aim to address the much needed health services in these communities.

Critical to the campaign success requires that we confront the quadruple pandemic:

1) HIV,AIDS, Tuberculosis (TB),Sexually Transmitted Diseases(STI),
2) Maternal, Infant and under-five Mortality
3) Violence and abuse
4) Non-communicable diseases like high blood pressure, heart diseases, diabetes, mellitus and cancer.

Services to be rendered will be Oral and Eye clinics, blood pressure, testing, sugar level testing, male and female condom distribution as well as human resource development in terms of study opportunities and bursaries in the health sector.

We call upon all communities targeted, to support the campaign and access the services to be rendered to ensure we build healthy communities.

Working together, we can do more!
