Improving Health Infrastructure and Bringing Services Closer to Communities

The MEC for Health in province, Mr Mxolisi Sokatsha, would like to take this opportunity to inform all that his department is improving health infrastructure in the province and will also be bringing much needed health services to the people’s doorstep. The Health Service Outreach campaign was carried out from 09 May 2011 to 13 May 2011.

This health service outreach campaign aims to encourage positive action among all to taking responsibility for one’s health through testing for HIV, TB screening, community interaction/dialogue and health walks.

Services to be rendered FREE of charge will be Oral and Eye clinics, Blood pressure testing, Sugar level testing, Male and Female condom distribution, Medical Male Circumcision as well as Human Resource development in terms of study opportunities and bursaries in the health sector.

The Health service outreach campaign is done in collaboration with the official opening of three (3) new state of the art clinics, a sod-turning for a new clinic and the opening of an upgraded Community Health Centre(CHC). New clinics will be opened in Groot-Mier(09 May 2011) and Sending:Riemvasmaak(10 May 2011) in the Siyanda District and Mapoteng(12 May 2011) in the John Taolo Gaetsewe District. The sod will be turned for a new clinic in Ka-Gung(12 May 2011), also the John Taolo Gaetsewe District. The upgraded Pamperstad CHC will be opened on 13 May 2011 in the Frances Baard District.

All the above activities is in line with Government’s 10 Point Plan for the health sector resorting under Point 6- Improving infrastructure ,Point 3 – Improving the quality of health services and Point 8- Mass Mobilization for better health for the population

We call upon all communities involved, to support be part of the events and access the health services to be rendered to ensure we build healthy communities.
