Allegations of unaccredited college

The Northern Cape Department of Health currently uses three institutions to train Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel, namely the Free State Central University of Technology, the Cape Peninsula University of Technology and Tshedimosetso Trauma Centre. The Department of Health only uses education and training providers who are accredited with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).

We are aware that at some point since the 11th of August 2011 the HPCSA has sent a letter to one of the accredited training and education providers namely Tshedimosetso Trauma Centre indicating that it intends to withdraw accreditation within 21 days of their letter. When and if accreditation is withdrawn, the HPCSA will inform the Department of Health. We reaffirm that we only use education and training providers registered by the HPCSA. ENDS
