The Honorable Premier of the Northern Cape, Ms HG Jenkins, the MEC of Health in the province, Mr Mxolisi Sokatsha and the Chairperson of the John Taolo Gaetsewe Development Trust, Ms Omphemetse Mogodi, hereby invites all media to the official handover and opening of the new Madibeng Clinic in the Joe Morolong Local Municipality of the John Taolo Gaetsewe District.

During an Executive Council visit to Heuningvlei (Joe Morolong Local Municipality) in 2010, the need for the construction of a clinic in the area was identified that resulted in the construction of the Madibeng Clinic by the John Taolo Gaetsewe Development Trust upon
engagement with the Joe Morolong Municipality.

The construction, handover and opening of the new clinic are done through a Public-Private Partnership with the John Taolo Gaetsewe District Development Trust. The project slots into government’s 10 Point Plan as capsulated under the Revitalization of health infrastructure and Improving the quality of health care services.

Building new clinics, upgrading existing health care facilities, provision of personnel, equipment, medicine and transport, are all part and parcel of improving health service delivery in the province. In addition to building new clinics, government is working hard to improve the quality of care that is provided within all our health care facilities. This is in line with our vision as the Northern Cape Department of Health, namely “Health service excellence for all”.

The partners in this project are the Northern Cape Provincial Department of Health, John Taolo Gaetsewe District Development Trust, the John Taolo Gaetsewe District Municipality and Joe Morolong Local Municipality. This is a true reflection that working together, we can do more.
