On behalf of the Provincial Government of the Northern Cape, The MEC for Sports , Arts and Culture Mr. Lebogang Motlhaping would firstly like to congratulate the Knights Cricket team for their remarkable achievement in making it to the final of the domestic T20 Ram Slam final to be played in Cape Town against the Cape Cobras on Friday 12 December 2014.

As the Northern Cape Provincial Government we are extremely proud of your achievement as many people believed that the Knights were not capable of reaching the finals due to the exodus of senior players this season. The hard work, commitment and dedication of the players in the Knights squad have now reaped the benefits and proven the critics wrong.

Our support for the Knights Cricket Team is unwavering. For now, we want to appeal to them to redouble their efforts by ensuring that the momentum building up towards the finals continues.

To the local guys in the team Reeza  Hendricks , Gerhardt Abrahams and Diego Rosier  everything of the best for Friday and  may you play a fundamental role in bringing the cup home.

Let us as a Province rally behind Werner Coetsee and the rest of the Knights. With our support, they can bowl the Cobras over and out.

We would also like to congratulate Gihahn Cloete on his inclusion in the South African Invitational Team who will be playing against the West Indies.

In conclusion it is of utmost importance to remember that sport continues to be a vital tool in nation-building and the support our teams raise across racial, religious and other boundaries is indicative of the deepening of our nationhood and the building of a common South African identity.
