Nakadimang's remains exhumed

The Department of Sport, Arts and Culture has exhumed the remains of Philimon Thekiso Nkadimang, one of freedom fighters who was buried at the West End Cemetery in Kimberley. The department was joined at the cemetery by Nkadimang’s family as well as representatives from the ANC and traditional leadership.

Nkadimang’s remains will be transported to Kuruman in the John Taolo Gaetsewe District for reburial. He was buried at the West End Cemetery in Kimberley in 2006 upon the discovery of his decomposed body in his house. Nkadimang’s burial in Kimberley was due to the legislation that prohibits the decomposed bodies to be transported from one place to another. His reburial will form part of the 2013 Youth Day celebrations to be led by the Speaker of the Northern Cape Provincial Legislature Kenny Mmoiemang at Mothibistad on Saturday, 15 June 2013. His family expressed gratitude and say they hope that Nkadimang’s reburial will mark the beginning of a long term relationship with Northern Cape government.
