Inaugural Memorial Lecture on Robert Sobukwe

The Northern Cape Department of Sport, Arts and Culture and the School of Humanities in the Sol Plaatje University as well as the Sol Plaatje Municipality are jointly hosting a public lecture to mark forty years since the founder of the Pan Africanist Congress of Azania (PAC) and African Studies lecturer at Wits University, Robert Mangaliso Sobukwe, who died in Kimberley. Sobukwe took his last breath on the 27th of February 1978 at the Kimberley Hospital.

The 27th February 2018 marks the 40th anniversary since the passing on of a giant and defender of the human rights of Africans during the oppressive reign of the then Apartheid regime.

He lived in House Number 6 Naledi Street and had a law office in what is today known as the Mayibuye Precinct, both in the township of Galeshewe in Kimberley.

INAUGURAL MEMORIAL LECTURE
The public lecture will be delivered by the Reverend Professor Tshepo Lephakga from the Department of Philosophy, Practical and Systematic Theology at the University of South Africa in Pretoria. It will be held in Auditorium C113
All the activities will graced by the MEC for Sport , Arts and Culture Ms Bongiwe Mbinqo Gigaba and the Executive Mayor of Sol Plaatje Municipality Alderman Mangaliso Matika.
