During the month of January the Province experienced heavy rainfalls which eventually led to floods. The floods left many community members and their families destitute. Many of them lost their possessions in the floods hence the Provincial Administration and Private Sector (Standard Bank) is assisting to restore their lives.

Standard Bank has sponsored the Provincial Government with 150 mattresses and 300 Blankets which were handed over to the Premier of the Northern Cape , Ms Hazel Jenkins on the 20th June 2011.
